I am looking for some nice comfy winter boots in which to go for winter walks, go to shops, call in at the yard and wear when I am out and about. They need to be warm, have decent flat soles, be capable of withstanding mud as I live in a muddy village, cope with walks on the beach, and look smart enough for the shops or the pub, and be no more than about £100. They also need to be fairly easy to get on and off as I am pregnant and bump is beginning to get in the way!!!! I don't need to ride in them, but it would be nice to be able to hop on...
I had a nice brown leather pair from Clarks which sadly died last winter. I then ended up wearing my black High Riders as they were so comfy (these are also my everyday riding boots)! Or Ugg boots, but these hurt my feet now I'm pregnant.
I have looked around all the 'high street' shops at the riding type boots that are fashionable at the moment and to be frank they wouldn't last me more than a week!
So I figured I should get some 'country' type boots. BUT there are SO many different ones...

What I really want to know is which ones are the best? And which ones are Rubbish???

Or I could just wear my High Riders...

My all time favourites for a short do-everything-in-'em boot has to be MH Mountain Rider.
Wear mine on the yard, hacking, dog walking and everywhere else where jeans are acceptable.

Three years ago I bought a pair of Dubarry boots and whilst they were stupidly expensive they have more than paid for themselves. I wear them every day summer or winter for everything from mucking out to shopping. They are really warm and have good grips which you will need for an icey yard and a baby bump. Good luck with the baby

I like the look of the Ariat windermeres, are they hardwearing? And do they stay waterproof?
I might have a look at the Ryedale ones too.
Dublin Rivers are nice but aren't they meant to be rubbish?

I have a selection muck boots already, I don't think I would wear them to do shopping or to the pub though!!!! Though I find the Muck Boot Co ones were really slippy on the packed snow/ice last winter, I had to wear my hunter wellies instead with very thick socks on... brrrrrrr...

Long or short, Ariat would be my choice every time.

Me too - love love love my Grasmeres - accomodate me wearing jods or jeans - clean up like new - fully waterproof - feet are never cold even last winter when it was -15.5 and I wasn't wearing thick socks (you just don't need them). Mine are on their 3rd year and still going strong - I live in them :D

Does anyone know what the sizing is on the Ariats? Do they come up big, small or normal? I know Mountain Horse come up big.

I have got a 10% off voucher from Robinsons!!!! ANd they stock the ariat windermeres :)
