Can anyone suggest to me some good XC boots? Tried premier equine but they just don't fit- the wrong shape for his leg completely (he's a fine TB). Haven't got anymore than £70/£80 to spend, so doing a bit of shopping around! :) How much are prolites, what do people yhink of them? xxx

I use Prolites all round and really rate them. Used them on 2 horses and they've never slipped or rubbed. Got my front ones new and the rear 2nd hand on Ebay. Think they're about £35/45 a pair.

I like the prolite but they don't fit 3 of our 5 so we have a pair of style and two pairs NEW which I think i like best. They are more flexible and lighter than prolite. To be honest- i think it come down to fit on the horse!

I would say prolite or eskadron. Watch for the prolites though as I bought some full size hind ones for my sister's horse and, even though he's a 16.1 leggy horse they were too large length wise. He has full size for his front though. I have eskadron open-fronted tendon boots on mine and use them for XC as he's not keen on wearing boots in general and I have no complaints about them at all.

That's not too bad for the prolites actually! I think I'll just have to try a few different brands and see which fits him best- awkward horse haha! Any other suggestions? xx

I have a fine leggy TB and she has the medium size prolites, have had them 4 years now and still going strong!. they do size up quite long as ladyt25 says. as i wouldnt say my horse had short legs and the medium more than do the job. they dont slip or turn when wet and i havent even bandaged taped them for xc, though i should i just forgot, plus we are only at the baby levels at present! :)

I LOVE my Trizone xc boots - rrp is about £55 a pair, but I often see them on sale - great protective boots, don't slip, legs don't get too hot (air flows through), they don't hold water and are lasting brilliantly - big vote from me!
