As my pony is now on field rest I'm thinking ahead to when he come back into work. He is ridden quite a lot and I want to make sure that we don't have a repeat of Monday/yesterday!

Would you recommend boots or bandages for ridden work? If boots, which ones - brushing/tendon/SMB's?

More info would be helpful. Does he brush behind, does he overreach? Does he need support, etc. What sort of ridden work does he do?

By way of example, Kal wears brushing boots on his hinds on the flat b/c he is quite close behind and in fast work does knock himself . . . and overreach in front b/c he is short-coupled and is in eggbar shoes so don't want him stepping himself and ripping a shoe off. I do also bandage behind instead of boots b/c boots can rub (he's very thin-skinned).

If he's jumping, he wears his Eskadron tendon boots for support in front and to stop knocks behind . . . and he goes across country wears overreach in front and appropriate, closed boots for protection on all four legs.

Hi he's in med/hard work, 6 days a week, mixture of schooling, hacking, jumping & XC, he also does interval training once a week on a steep hill. He doesn't brush or over-reach but is now on a couple of weeks field rest in a small paddock with a suspected check ligament strain. Due to this I just want to give him a bit more support as currently he only gets booted for the interval training and the XC - we only jump about 2'6/2'9 as he is a stocky cob type and can't really go much higher!
