My horse has recently been diagnosed with bone spavin in his hocks. I was thinking about buying some stable or turnout boots for him. I have heard mixed reviews about magnetic boots and dont want to spend lots on something that wont work. Others have told me its the heat from wearing boots which help, not actually the magnets so maybe equillibrium stable chaps would help?

He has had to be in 24/7 for the last week due to the snow and ice so this isnt helping his stiffness.

Mine has just been diagnosed with an arthritic hock: I'm throwing devils claw, glucosamine, MSM, apple cider vinegar, cod liver oil and I'm considering magnetic hock wraps or boots. There are offers on the Equilibrium products and if you google them, cheaper ones come up. I might have a look on eBay too. I think it's worth trying something like this and a mate who is an equine tech at the RVC thinks it could help. It will increase blood flow so more oxygen to the joint/area. Allegedly!

If you're looking to keep legs warm and boost circulation look at Back on Track leg wraps - I use the wrap-around ones on both my horses both prior to competing and when they are stabled during cold weather; at this time of year they wear them overnight in the stable. Excellent for keeping the circulation flow good and they are very easy to fit. I also have hock boots but only use these when I am around, they fit well over the leg wraps.

If using magnetic boots don't leave them on if horse is unattended in field. They shouldn't be used if horse has open wounds as encourage blood flow so just a word of warning in case your horse gets an unrelated injury in field. Otherwise they are a good option.
