Hi all,

I have no idea why but every brushing boot / dressage boot I've tried on my girl have slipped down. Especially on her hind legs, they end up around her fetlocks. I've tried tightening them more (which led to sore spots) and re-tightening after her warmup. I've tried Verdus Dressage boots, Husk boots, Le Mieux Snug boots, Dalmar Event boots and they've all either rubbed or slipped down. The Sports boot style didn't slip but they interfere with her overreach boots which she needs (she has a huge walk which is fab for dressage but not fab for ovvereach injuries haha).

She's a Grand Prix dressage horse but has a tendency to lark about on the lunge and when doing piaffe in-hand so I'd like something with strike protection but ideally as breathable as possible. I'd happily ride her without but we've had a few near-misses of her striking into herself ??‍♀️ Thanks!

i find all shaped boots fairly useless tbh and lots interfere with over reach boots. i use Woof Wear club boots on all of mine which are flexible enough to contour the legs and fairly light weight so not too sweaty, also no binding to rub them and they wash well. not fancy, not expensive, but also not a lot to go wrong!

Oh brill - are they firm enough to offer some kind of strike protection?

I don't really understand as I've never had boots rub on any of mine? Not really sure what you mean by tightening them either? Do her legs fill so they need tightening after they have gone down with exercise? They should always be firmly fitted and the fetlock should be bulbous enough to keep them up? Perhaps try buying a size smaller so they fit more closely? The only boots I have had slip have been ones which get flabby and heavy when wet and then the only solution is the eventing trick of insulating tape wrapped round to stop them moving. But yes, just use bandages if boots don't work. Or go without.
