Boots/wraps/bandages for flatwork?

Hi

I have traditionally used combination bandages for flatwork. Now that our youngster is getting out more, we have worked out that, at competitions, I have to have the agility of a small, fast, bendy person to remove any leg protection after warming up and before a dressage test. Taking off bandages therefore becomes a sport in itself and I am not a small, fast and bendy person (sadly).

We have some good WW neoprene brushing boots however, if working on a surface, they allow the dirt/sand/surface to get down inside the boots - something I am definitely not happy about.

I bought some fleecy brushing boots to prevent this but they seem to be very hot and sweaty when removed.

So I need recommendations please - something that a) can be removed quickly from said dancing horse, b) won't let the sand/grit get inside and c) won't hold the heat too much.

Thank you - I've nothing to offer anyone to eat as our pesky lurchers did some counter-surfing in the kitchen yesterday (thanks to a teenager not shutting the door) and ate the remaining chocolate orange brownies :(

Personally I have always used pads and polo bandages when working in for dressage ( at home pads and bandages in front, brushing boots behind ) but as you mention with a yougster getting these off at a comp is a pain............. I therefore have someone either take one boot/bandage off, walk a circle , then do the next ............ repeat for all four legs ( only poss if you have someone with you .....................or don't wear any boots til horse becomes more settled at a comp........................

The stretch and flex wraps are really good for competitions. Nice and thin so don't get too hot and easy to take off quickly :)

the tekna dressage boots are BY FAR the best flatwork leg protection i have EVER used. not only are they stylish and hard wearing, but they are made of the same brilliant material as the rest of the tekna range (saddles, bridles, girths, breastplates etc) that can be washed with just water ( i leave it on the horse and hose my tack with the rest of my horse! though unfortunately i have a wow dressage saddle and a butet dressage saddle so i can't wash the saddle with the rest of the tack)
not only are the boots GREAT but they are really cheap so good for people on a budget.

Thank you all. I presume the stretch/flex ones are the Equilibrium ones? Any guidance on sizing ie do they come up larger/smaller than normal? (I know that's a 'how long is a piece of string' question - sorry!)

And thank you Princess for the Tekna recommendation - are they fleece lined? And again, what is your view on their sizing?

Thanks for your help.

We use the premier equine new sports boots, I've found them to be really good, the leg doesn't overheat or get surface down them and they have 4 straps on each boot.
We have them in white so wash after each use, they come up fine and dry quick, the only thing I would say is they are quite big for the size :)
