It seems like a while since we’ve had a full ISDS reg border collie pup as the bearded borders have taken over ?
Nap is around 7 months now and still a big (very big!) pup. He didn’t get the sensitive collie memo and is not bothered by very much at all, which is great. He’s very natural on sheep and has been easy to train so far. We aren’t doing much with him yet as there’s plenty of time to let him be a puppy and just grow up.

I think as he is so easy to handle, I might add him to my pack for working alongside Tay. He and Strike have struck up a friendship too. He will have to live in the kennel block though unfortunately as two GSDs in this small cottage is enough really. I like my dogs to live indoors though so we will see what happens.

He is the spitting image of one of my very first ever collie bitches, I will search through some very old almost sepia pics to see if I can load one up - quite uncanny! Very handsome collie Nap is too. Bron was also a very easy dog, almost trained herself I have to say.

Your going to steal him ;), handsome boy, what sort of weight is he.
Cap never got the nervous collie memo either, it's so nice when that is the one that got missed, although we have few without it.

I’d love to see her ❤️ With her breeding too if you know it to see if they share any ancestors.

I’ll have to weigh him as no idea of his weight. A lot of it is actually coat ?
Our collies (bar one) are not really nervous but can be a bit sensitive at times. The beardie types less so.

If I can find the pics of her and her sister the papers will be with them, watch this space! Curiously though her litter mate full sister was the absolute opposite, ADD personified, very highly strung and preferred to chase her own tail than actually work, super sweet nature though and very good with our young children.☺️

We really prefer the traditional type. Rio is 13 now, and still absolutely brilliant, fit as a fiddle and responsive and clever as ever.

Rio was bred on the sort of South African sheep farm that you’d need a fast horse to ride in a day, so would only be distantly related to collies here. I think fourth generation SA bred.

Our next dog will be the same sort of collie, if we can fine one, but you’re right - they are hard to find these days!

Quick update on Nap. He’s now 12 months old and his sheep education proper started just before lambing time. He’s very (very) wide on his sheep but will walk on to them when asked. He should be very useful for gathering large swathes of hill as he is so happy to get out and doesn’t feel the need to be in constant contact with the shepherd. He’ll travel in or on anything with enthusiasm. Some dogs take a while to get accustomed to riding the quad bike but Nap has been confident and at ease on it from day one. He does sometimes still grip a sheep if he gets a bit frustrated but that should be easily fixed. All in all he’s very lovely indeed.
