Can anyone offer a good home to my lovely young (18 mts) Border Collie neutered male? I have lost my job and tied accommodation and am unable to provide him with a good home. This has been a really tough decision as my boy is lovely in every respect. He has had a 6 week basic training course, knows commands such as sit, down, wait, stay, take, drop. He loves all games, especially football. He is gentle and loving, great with kids and other dogs and has been a fantastic companion to me. I really need to find him someone as soon as possible.

Thanks

OK, sorry to be the voice of doom, but we've recently had one forum-based rehoming that ended up as an RSPCA prosecution case... OP, I know your situation is difficult, but I would strongly encourage you to look for a rescue that can take your dog in. I am not judging you at all because these things happen and sometimes we do have to find our animals new homes, but at the same time I do feel that it's important to point out the risks involved with this approach.

I know what you're saying Spudlet - but that was hopefully an isolated case. There have also been some successes - cop-pop and Sandy/Candy :)

If done via the forum, home checks should obviously be done and the new owner thoroughly researched. Rescues do a great job but if this dog could be homd directly, thus leaving a vaulable kennel space for another than surely that can only be a good thing?

Sorry I can't help - a friend will be looking for similar to him but not for another 6 months or so when she will be working from home. Good luck though, must be heartbreaking for you :(

My mum's neighbour recently had to rehome her collie - she contacted the local agility club and he found a home with one of their members :)
