There are a couple of Border terriers at our yard, they are kept in kennels with runs at night, and out and about most of the day. The skin of one of them appears to be almost blue, and the hair is quite sparse - mainly on the back legs and going up towards the belly. They are vaccinated and flea treated and are very bright and active. The skin feels a bit warm, but not excessively so.

Has anyone come across similar? If so, what did you do?

Thank you!

It might be that they only have a single coat, not the undercoat as well, it sometimes happens but is nothing to worry about. If it is a single coat then they really shouldn't be bred from as it is a serious fault for the breed and you don't want to compound it further (know they're not yours just explaining!). It could also be where the dog rubs himself which can weaken the coat. If the skin is blueish it usually means they are a blue and tan not a normal grizzle when the skin is lighter.
