As the title says really.

Do you have a job involved with equine, or know of any careers?
If you do have a equine career, what does it involve, do you enjoy it, what qualifications did you have to get it, where you studied etc.

I think i'm thinking jobs such as an equine lecturer for universities, colleges etc (not sure if that's the proper name!)
Not necessarily working with horses (yard owner/manager, groom etc) but the more serious side if i'm making sense :o

Not a serious question really, just thinking about the future. :)

I work in a racing yard, have no qualifications beyond school and I quite simply hate it when we get students in from equine colleges as they think they know everything and they actually know begger all about the real world of horses lol!

hehe, not sure it counts, but I quit college to become an equine artist :p Ok, I do other animals now too, but still my main focus is equine :) I have reasonable GCSEs (few A's, B's & a D), failed my A-levels although would have had an A in business most likely if I'd stayed to the end of yr13
I plan to continue with my art, do some teaching training with Heather Moffett most likely, if I can, and eventually possibly breed & train some ponies, and teach. It is very much my 'dream' but I plan to work bloody hard to make it a reality, even if I am going the 'long way round'. I'm not mentally set up for on-paper qualifications after the rubbish I've gone through over the last few years, so even when I considered going to the likes of Myerscough or Hartpury, I couldn't bring myself to go through with it, considered a WP placement but knew it wouldn't work for me, so I guess I'm getting the experience of running a business & managing my horses, learning lots and will get there in the end!
If I ever decided to get qualified though for anything, I'd probably do equine business & look at having more of a yard manager position, bit more office work but a bit of hands on where poss. I really like the business side of things in all honesty, even if it's stressful! :)

Equine vet, Equine chiropractor (except you aren't allowed to use the term) or physio, farrier, instructor, groom, equine nutritionist, jockey, horse handler in a circus, driver for company providing equipages for weddings, funeral, etc.

Just about any job you can think of could be done in the horse world! Journalist, lawyer, event manager, buyer, nutritionist, clothing designer ...
