Hi there all,
I have two mares who are having to stay in at this snowy time as too dangerous path to fields. They are stabled next to each other on our own yard and have a grill inbetween the stables so they can sniff and see each other all the time.
We have shovelled a path in the menage and salted it so i can walk them round that for 20 mins twice a day. Have also managed to give them a trot under saddle today which they enjoyed! They do seem okay and as calm as can be expected - haven't gone crazy - actually seem subdued. They have ad lib hay and haylage mixed.
They currently have a feed ball / decahedron each which they absolutely LOVE. They wait in eager anticipation for them and you can't prize them away from them once they have them. They both showjump to a high level affiliated and one especially has a very quick mind so this provides some much needed mental stimulation for them. They also have a salt lick each.
I was wondering if any one has any more boredom busting ideas that you could share as these balls only last them about half an hour and i'd love love to give them something else for the rest of the days.
