I admit it, I am a boring dog walker. I do lots of recalls with my pup and praise her a lot when she does what I ask her, but I tend to be quite quiet and dull (for a dog) the rest of the time, while we a out walking.

Where we walk is very exciting though. Lots of deer, ponies, cattle, pigs, birds etc., so I really need to up my game, lol.

What do you guys do to maintain your dog's interest on walks?

take my lorry and my horses and my dogs and ride on Dartmoor :) At all paces, on all sorts of terrain. Dogs are expected to run alongside. We play in rivers, horses as well as dogs. And we finish with long fast gallop. 2 exhausted dogs!

eta - Sorry OP in answer to your question - I do not need to make the walk anymore entertaining, purely being outside is super exciting for my crazy Lola. She literally bounds with excitement from start to finish and never tires! She does like running after her tennis ball though :D

I do recalls and carry a lot of food and usually two balls and we do play a bit.
We always go somewhere with lots of mud and water for him to splash about in *sigh*

I've also started biking and jogging him for short distances, when they *have* to keep pace with you they are less likely to start zoning out onto other things.

Don't do this until she is a bit older, it is too much impact on young joints.
