Having bought my mare two Bossys Bibs last autumn I can definitely say that they work, however, they are both now fit for nothing other than the bin having already been repaired over and over by my long suffering mother! I noticed that there are other brands that do "satin" anti-rub vests for half the price of the Bossys Bibs and was wondering if these are actually as good?? Has anyone used them? Thanks!

Mine is still good as new after 2 years so not sure why yours aren't. Would buy again

You obviously have a well behaved horse! My mare reaches down and bites the loop attachment thingy, she has pulled them off both bibs and my Mum has replaced them - but the replacements have now been pulled off too!

My BB is even older, but my mare is not naughty like the OP's. ;)

Unfortunately most of the bib designs have a loop at the front to stop them from turning, so I'm not sure whether or not a different make would be better. IME BB's are tougher than the cheaper makes.

I used to use a Shires lycra vest, which did up like a girth with a buckle around the stomach - would something like that work? It wasnt a lot of money either, from memory.

I tried a Roma one like that, but it didn't stop the rug from rubbing her chest.

The only reason I was asking, was to see if the cheaper satin £10 ones are as good as the Bossy Bibs ones. Not to worry, I will just have to buy replacement BBs instead and accept that life with a naughty (but nice) horse is expensive haha

I love Bossy's bibs but they do only do about 2 winters( even with long suffering mum mending them) I bought a identical bib called a comfy/comfi cape off eBay & every bit as good as Bossy's but cheaper. Prior to using BB's I tried many makes of bib in different materials & they were all useless!

BBs r the best & luckily my girl doesn't bite the loop so they r about 3 r 4 years old now. Try not using loop, bib might move but still won't rub.

Thanks for that, will have a look into the Comfi Cape! My BBs might have lasted two winters, but with the summer we've had, they have been used practically every day for the last year

Yes, having to do this atm; they do move a bit, but like you say still manage to stop the rug rubbing. In all fairness BBs are a godsend!
