Very useful for the slightly creaky horse. I can certainly tell with both of mine if I run out.

I would have no hesitation inputting either of them on a daily maintenance level of bute if they needed something stronger, but Boswellia is doing grand for now.

I feed 65% Boswellia serrata from Riaflex, I look out for their special offers.

Definitely helped the 2 I’ve had on it. Unfortunately current lad has become intolerant and I suspect it caused gut/renal issues with him (resolved when I stopped giving it him) he’s sensitive to most things though!

Off special offer that’s more expensive than equicure (£24 versus £22.95) and lower concentration too. 65% rather than 85%.

Thanks, I’ll bear that in mind next time I’m looking to buy 🙂.

I stocked up with Riaflex 65% Boswellia recently at 15% off and got 2 x 1kg pouches for £166.60. I will need to crunch the numbers of cost vs daily dose rates.

Let me know your thoughts when you do. I am feeding the equicure at maintanence dose, and think is the most bang for your buck I could find. Happy to hear different if calculate it so.

What is the volume of the daily dose of Equicure for a horse, please?

It’s 15ml of powder per day for an up to 700kg horse with Riaflex 65%. On the back of this thread I have now discovered that it is possible to get 7.5ml measuring spoons. That’ll make measuring out the correct dose per twice daily feed rather easier than juggling with my existing 5ml and 10 ml spoons!

The concentrated from Equicure, that is 85%, I feed 10ml a day. Which is 2 of their 5ml scoops. Provides 4gms, and says for 400-700kg horse.

For different supplements I have ordered 15ml and 30ml from Amazon (much faster - I make 14 days of 2 pots of supplements a day up).

I did comparisons on this a while ago!

The advised amount to feed is 13g of Boswelic Acid per day. If you feed 85% then you'd need to feed 15g of the product, whereas if you feed 65% you would need to feed 20g of the product in order to feed 13g of BA.

Despite that, the Rowan Barbary Boswellia was cheapest per day (£38.16 per kg plus £3.20 meaning it is 76p per day). Compare to Equicure 85% which is £23 for 10 days worth!

Anyway, my mastermind specialist knowledge has finally come to use...

Hang on.. am I getting the maths wrong here? You're supposed to feed 4g/day to a 400-700kg horse, so technically it's 37 days for £23? 0.62p per day?

I have previously used the Forage Plus one, but will probably switch to the Equicure now that I know about it!

You need to feed whatever it takes to get 13g Boswelic acid. That's more for a 65% strength (as only 65% is Boswelic acid)

The research suggests 11g BA for a 500kg horse so I think I did a bit of a pie in the sky for 13g

I use the Equicure liquid boswelia. I stopped giving it to my retired mare for a while and just gave her Devils Claw. Then I noticed she wasn't rolling any more, always clean. Since restarting it she definitely rolls, absolutely plastered. I won't be stopping it again. She is about 15.1 and goes through a bottle a month.
