Jack earned his second cake! :D

We did our first visits today and he was fab :D

We went to a nursing home and a hospital and was very good. By the time we were getting to finish at the hospital he was loosing interest a little but we'd been going for almost two hours so he's allowed. He still sat quietly just was more interested in lying down which when your a small dog already visiting people who aren't so mobile it's not helpful.

We were with the area co-ordinator and her daughter and they love him :D They did have a giggle at the fact his coat with the same size as their goldies! It's too big round the front but the smaller one wouldn't fit round his barrel...he did look a bit daft so going to have a adjust it ;)

I'm generally very chuffed with my little man

He really is.....you wouldn't believe how many people (not just today but whenever we go anywhere) say 'my grandparents used to have one of them, it was nasty/it nipped something terrible' or just plain ask me if he bites. They seem really shocked when I say he's lovely and has never nipped or tried to herd anyone.

I know that he probably have to learn to sit up for hours and I know that they're not cheap, but on dog shows I see people fold grooming tables up and down in no time (the rod can be removed),

though I suppose that would not be quite practical, but how about a foldable footstool for camping, for him to lay on?

I'm sure he would look like a King lying on one of those though. *sigh*

I've got to make a decision about what kind of thing I want to do but I'm in a bit of a quandary about it.

He was very good visiting the elderly but he's an awkward size where I can't pick him up to go to them (and not allowed a stand due to contamination risks) and he's a bit small for them to bend down to fuss. I had him sat with his front legs on my lap a lot but that's a lot of stress on his back/hind legs which due to his shape/breed are prone to problems in that area. However, this kind of placement would be FAR easier to fit in around work.

He LOVES kids, he will literally plant and refuse to move in order to have a fuss when we see any. He's a nice size for kids as he's big enough to play a bit rough if they want to but equally small enough to be none threatening to them. I honestly think he would enjoy that far more but placements with children are almost exclusively week days only which will be incredibly difficult to fit in around full time work and although I'm on flexi-time I'm a temp atm and I don't want to push my luck as I'm very aware I'm disposable and there are 100's of people waiting for a post like mine.

I don't know what to do really?
