I am very new to this area and would appreciate recommendations for DIY livery. I have an older boy so only looking for stable, grazing and great hacking. Any recommendations would be gratefully accepted.

There are loads of little yards around this area. And hacking is fab. I'm in Soulbury but I know a little yard in Great Brickhill. Can't remember name but will get it as I drive past tomorrow.

There is a DIY Livery in Bow Brickhill next to the railway station and there is a large stable yard in Bow Brickhill, but not sure if that's DIY. No Livery that I know of in Woburn Sands, but there is a yard that does DIY in Great Brickhill too which has a website - check online. You could also contact the Aspley Guise Riding Club - they're very helpful. :D

Friend has her daughters pony at Home Farm Liveries in Great Brickhill, not been there but I think its just DIY and quite reasonable. As far as I know it has direct access to the woods and great hacking.

Collingwood in Bow has a space for a gelding I saw at saddlers yesterday (by level crossing) I was there years ago and only moved as they didn't have a school at time. You can ride out after dark there as you're straight onto the redways with no road work. I'll pm you where to avoid :)

Forgot to add:

There is also Woodleys Farm in Bow Brickhill and Bryerley Springs Farm in Great Brickhill.

Collingwood - thanks, that was the one by the train station I was trying to think of! Nice yard - my aunt used to keep her mare there.

The old trekking centre in Bow Brickhill would be worth a look at, and there is Marshmore stables in Bow Brickhill (I think they're still there) and Tilbrook Farm

Wow! Just went off to pamper myself and loads of replies. Hopefully will start trawling the area tomorrow/Sunday. Thanks all and any more ideas will be gratefully accepted. If you know phone numbers please pm. So much appreciated. xx

Is the old treking centre still open? I ask a I drive past some nights on my way home from work and noticed tonight that it has those high metal tempoary fence panels that they use to fence off building work across the entrance - they moght have been there for ages and I only noticed them tonight of course!

Excuse dodgy typing - cat is "helping"

EmsHooper who is your aunt ? I may know her.

Joanne Church. Had a stroppy chestnut mare in those days called Poppy (cribbed a lot!) at Collingwood. I was close to her in those days (no longer) and I used to pop to the yard with her.

If memory serves correct it was around 1998 - early 2000's that she was there.

Bylerley springs has crap hacking (I keep my horses on the same road just outside Gt.Brickhill), you have to go around bad bends then you're still 15/20minutes away from Stockgrove woods.
Great Brickhill have a couple of lovely yards, St.Margrets which is on the Gt.Brickhill to Lt.Brickhill road and theres Home farm which is in Gt.Brickhill on the same road and you're fairly close to Stockgrove.
I'd avoid Marshmore in Woburn Sands, YO is lovely but I felt very judged by the other liveries and felt very uncomfortable whilst there, hated it.
Bow Brickhill has a few yards (friend used to keep hers in the one next to the vets, left fairly sharpish due to YO, no idea exact reasons though)

Wow, had no idea so many HHO'ers are so local :D

Those fences have been up there for a good year or so now! I don't know if it's still open, but someone suggested it to me this year when I was looking for livery. Never investigated further as I found a private yard closer to home.

OP: I may have sent you on a wild goose chase with the old trekking centre. Sorry if I have! Prob worth asking around though, because they do have a very nice American style barn!

Trekking is still open but only as a livery. Gates went up when the travelling community helped themselves to Everyones tack. I left there 18 months ago, sadly it's not as good as it used to be :(

Ems - I know Jo :) my first experience of Poppy was her almost coming over the gate when I turned my horse out the first time :) poppy quite often came home from the woods on her own..... Followed by Jo 20 minutes later. We were at Dressage a few weeks ago in the same classes :)

Yep - that was Poppy! She bolted off with everyone. Nightmare horse. ;)

So you know Jo, eh?! What a small world!

We're very different people, Jo and I - let me leave it at that! Glad she has friends to meet at Dressage though. We always hear from Nan how amazing she is at it! :P chuckle.

Shows you how observant I am! There are lots of us around then! Mind you I live just the other side of Woburn and have mine on Toddington - crappish hacking but mega hills for fittening work :D

Thanks to everyone who replied or sent me a PM. I moved my boy today to a yard in Little Horwood. Fingers crossed that this yard will not go up for sale in 2 weeks :-) (like the last one.) Hacking seems fab, currently Z is a little unsettled, but as he has been moved 3 times in the last 6 months it is hardly surprinsing.

Few months late but incase anyone else comes across it looking for a livery yard in Woburn Sands. There is one that is right in the centre by the golf course - Radwell Farm Livery yard - they do DIY, assisted or part livery. Website: www.radwellfarmlivery.co.uk Thanks :p
