I appreciate my vet is the best person to ask about this but it's Saturday and I don't think they would view it as an emergency...
My mare yesterday came out the stable with a large lump on the front of the cannon bone on the hind leg. The lump is hard not soft has a little heat but isn't painful.
I have been bandaging both hind legs for the last week for something else but the bandages have had plenty of padding and not bandaged over tight. I thought maybe it is a bandage bow but the lump is rather large and looks to of come up whilst she was stood in after she was bought in yesterday. There is every chance I guess it could be a blow to the cannon from one of her friends. If it was on the front leg it would be easy to say It was sore shins if it was on the back of the leg you would cry tendon (just to give you an idea of shape) I've stopped bandaging, cold hosed and thrown out I'll go back in a bit and have a look. Horse is sound. Any ideas?
