Anyone any info? Just generally interested.
I have slight experience of it. Was head girl in a 50 horse yard at the time, so you can appreciate I didnt have time to talk to the woman properly. Have to admit I watched for 5 mins, though to myself 'what a load of sh#t' and walked off. I then returned to give a horse she had treated an injection (she was in horse next door) and she went beserk.
'Dont touch him, you will mess up the energy fields I have created!'
WTF???????
Thought the woman was a complete nutjob, but maybe she gave a bad impression?
Explain/discuss please.

I have had Bowens treatment (a friend was qualifying to be a practitioner) and I have to say I thought exactly the same as you! I felt no different at all after several treatments. I must say I am a hug cynic of anything without scientific proof in particular animal communicators!

The lady I worked for was training to do it and had several guinea pigs on the yard.

She was looking at shapes of the horses backs and atrophy around the shoulder blades. Taking templates and then doing treatments and changing saddles over 4weeks and remeasuring.

Made difference to one horse who was obviously uncomfortable (but prob as saddle didn't fit) but no difference to mine (who has an old back injury)

She did manage to settle him when he had mild colic, though.

Am undecided on the whole thing

Hi
I think you should have been made aware of her visit as there are some pre and post treatment guidelines.I'm not an expert however Jazz EMRT practitioner ( I think this is same as Bowen !)gave me a care sheet which basically goes like this:
For instance:
No tx for 4 days pre/post annual flu/tet vax or worming
Do not shoe for 4 days post tx
Dental tx should take place before tx or 1 week after
Do not groom/pat for 24 hours post tx
Magnets/Ultrasound / hydrotherapy/horsewalker etc should not be used until you have spoken to practitioner at the follow up visit
Exercise requirements will probably be modified/assessed at the time of tx
Changes in your horse may be noticed for up to 5 days post tx

Hi
I've had a look on your link and the following on the home page sounds very similar to EMRT:
QUOTE'The Bowen Technique as it is practiced today by the graduates of the European College consists of light, intuitive moves over soft tissue using only fingers or thumbs with short breaks between sets of moves to allow the real healing to begin. It is a light touch, the experience of the technique is gentle, subtle and relaxing, but nevertheless powerful in its healing abilities.'UNQUOTE'

If you care to have a look on my link maybe you'll have more of an idea QUOTEi dunno what your talking about but it doesnt sound like bowen!!UNQUOTE

Jazz' therapist is seeing her on Tuesday, I'll ask her!!

Axel has had several treatments of Bowen, and I was told not to touch him very much or groom him for a day and about the shoeing, vaccinations etc. He also wasn't allowed to be fed hard feed before the treatment either.
It worked really well on him tho.

A friend of mine was training in this some time ago and needed some guinea pigs for her training portfolio, I asked her to look at a 17 year old ex chaser who was struggling to keep condition.
She took his resting pulse at the start and a template of his back and did the treatment whach was very gentle - what was remarkable was how much his pulse dropped after treatment, and it wasn't high to start with, he was completely chilled and started to drink noticibly more water. I made no changes to diet or exercise routine but his back did fill in a little - as though he was using the food better.
She did one treatment on me, I would like to report back on it, but I fell immediately into a heavy sleep and awoke feeling thirsty but very relaxed.

I can't explain it, but something seems to happen!

I have used Julian Gaze for several years now - he is an EMRT practitioner from Worcs and the results I have seen on horses he has treated is amazing. And not just mine. I now recommend him to people I saddle fit for and they all then seem to recommend him to their friends. I have tried Osteopathy, Chiropractic and physiotherapy myself following on from a broken back and then ruptured discs and the only treatment that actually enabled me to walk normally was the bowen. I have also tried Bowen and Bowen equs on my horses and was not as impressed with the results. So I would go with Julian Gaze and EMRT every time. But it depends on your practitioner and their level of treatment expertise and their level of horsemanship
