box rest and calmer help please

My horse was happy eating his tea with a splash of valerian in (which did seem to calm him and help him cope with box rest)

Today though he turned his nose up at it.

Any ideas what I can mix in with his feed and valerain which will mask the smell?

Tried garlic - and untill today - it worked.

Try apple juice, i used the cheapo tesco value apple juice and she loved it. After that i used sunflower oil as she needed more weight and licked the bowl clean!

Can you get sugar free apple juice?

Apple juice worked for mine aswell. I was told it had to be from concentrate though. Someone can correct me if that is wrong. Mint, cider vinegar, treacle or mollasses might be other things to try if apple juice doesn't work.

Try a splash of peppermint cordial you'll find it in large supermarkets.
