my boy is on box rest till he heals 4-12 weeks and I'm on day 3 and hes going out of his tree in there hes getting bargy and stood on my OH feet this morning to get out.

Anyone know how to entertain him so he calms down? hes started kicking me when i put his cream on i understand its sore but he hasn't done this till 2today and he generally being a twit!

Could you ask your vet for a tablet to take the edge off of him, have forgotten what they are called

if he seems bored and agitated then you could put a mirror in his stable, give him a haynet with smaller holes, hide some high fibre low calorie treats in a 'snak a ball' or just hide them here and there in his stable! you could also get a few carrots or swede and string them on a bit of string and then hang it up in his stable, this tends to keep my rather stressy loan pony entertained! good luck and hope he feels better soon x

Some horses are very difficult to keep on box rest. I saw your previous post about how he'd hurt himself (poor lad), but it wasn't clear why he needed to be on box rest.

Is it possible to field rest him instead???

i cant field rest him, he on box rest as all skin is gone and we have really bad flies up there vets worried if he walks on it to much he will keep opening the wound or infection will get in hes also lame on leg and he cannot be bandaged because of the position of it hard to explain cut! ill try and take better pics when i go up to give him hes 2nd Bute

i tried to get him on field rest but vet wasnt having it, im kinda hoping i can move him soon but all down to vets say YM agreed i need to move so worries i had with that are gone.

From what Ive heard about mirrors don't they have to be carefully placed as some see them as competitors to there feed? and it can make them unhappy and food aggressive? i was actually thinking of this but was unsure
