Both my mares have been in just over 5 weeks now with stress laminitis. The smallest mare was the worst but she has been fine stiffness wise as she can wander around her stable but my other mare has gone really stiff on her hinds as she refuses to move other than turn around to get the hay nets.

Both are allowed out now to be mucked out and I have been putting them in the very bare paddock while I do this, little mare has been doing her Princess dressage pony bit, throwing in some very flashy moves around the place and looks as sound as ever, my other mare will just stand there and not move at all, if I walk her she's very stiff and if I stop walking her she will just stand where I left her.

Any suggestions on how to help her, vet had said after 6-8 weeks she would be ok to start going back out but I had planned to keep both in till I move to my own yard in 2 weeks. I have swapped her to the slightly bigger stable, put hay nets in all 4 corners so she has to move and turn to get the hay.

Are you sure the inflammation in her feet has gone? Does she still have digital pulses? Is she better on an anti inflammatory such as bute? Have her feet been x rayed? For stiffness that extreme I would be suspecting feet and with a history of laminitis, then probably either the lammi is still there or she has got some pedal bone movement.

She is fine on the feet that she had mild laminitis on, its her hind legs that she is stiff on, all 4 feet seem fine, farrier and vet were happy with them and neither felt she needed x rays, she has no pulses, she's currently on 1 danilon per day.
