One of my boys must constantly walk around and around his box - when mucking out there are never any solid poo's and its like taking minstrels out every day! He also has a very very wet bed - he must drink a full large bucket every night and spend all night wee-ing too? Has a lick and a feed ball to occupy him - but any ideas on how to toilet train him? Taking away the riding time v mucking out. (Oh hes on a shavings bed and concrete base). Ta muchly.

Firstly i would say see what hes like on straw. Rock was the same on shavings and yet on straw his box walking stopped altogether. We concluded that he had at some point been starved in his stable, and when he ran out of hay he thought he wasnt gonna get fed again and got anxious. On straw hes always got something he can eat (even though he doesnt actually eat the straw) it just calms him to know he can if he needs to.
Also i would suggest a stable mirror - this has worked wonders on many box walkers and crib biters i've known.

Just a thought but have you tried taking his snack ball away as this may be why his bed is a mess if he is playing with this? Worth a go perhaps?

How long have you had him? My boy used to be chronic, but now only does it if there is a change in his routine, so very rarely! But he grew out of it as he learnt where he was when, although will no doubt start for a short time in summer when he comes in in the day....

had him for two years and still a very messy boy! Snack ball empty in 5 mins (he's very viscious with it!) thinking of re-naming him minstrel as that is what I have to clean up every day lol!

do you have indoor or outdoor stables? Sometimes makes a huge difference how high the ceiling is with a box walker. x
