Well, tried the Sedalin Gel prior to hand-walking today and it seems to have worked.

I could not get the syringe to touch her lips, even when OH held her by the headcollar. So I took carrots, lined them with the gel, and fed them to her. She soon realised what was going on and spat a few of the carrots out. Put the gel into her feed instead which got eaten.

I was then able to hand-walk her for 15 minutes, she was a LOT calmer, but still a bit grumpy, so we used another trick that was mentioned in the forum: OH walked in front of her with plenty of carrots. She seemed to demand one carrot for each lap done, lol.

Hope it's gonna continue going well...

another tip for giving sedalin gel is to half core an apple put gel inside with a bit off chaff or feed and put core back in apple as a plug. My horse got very wise to sedalin carrots and feed coming at him after box rest but the apple he was happy with

not so smart

glad to hear you had a better day! You got off very lightly with one carrot per lap - i seem to remember shovelling them in practically every stride last time and leaving an orange trail of carroty juice everywhere we went (nice)!
