Has been an extremely long, stressful, hot and good day!
We didnt have a ridiculously early start but as we were chugging along the motorway the lorry started to die everytime it had to go up an incline however minute. It was still going just very slow and mum didnt trust it to get us there so we stop at the services, called dad to bring the trailer out. He got there very speedily and poor Shrimp was extremely confused as to why he was in a lorry park at the services rather than the lorry park at the event! Anway we got there but it only gave us about 20/25 minutes to warm up for the dressage which for us is not enough. Neither of us were in the best state of mind so it was more of a 'lets get this over and done with test' rather than a 'lets enjoy this test'.
We scored 36.7 which is our worst this season, probably not helped by the fact that I hate the test (PN 111) (would have been 35.5 had I not gone wrong
) which I thought was reasonable and the comments were very fair.
On to showjumping which has improved so much. Im able to ask him to lengthen and shorter without fighting and its so much easier and nicer. We went clear
and there wernt that many either
XC: Now, last time I was at this venue I broke my arm so my main aim was to get round with all my limbs intact. The course was good even if the ground was a little hard but at least I didnt have to jump 'the jump' at which I fell off at last year. Anyway, he jumped fab, didnt look at anything or hesitate and we came home clear inside the time! Yay, no broken bones!
We waited 2 1/2 hours for the prize giving but got fed up in the end as they were taking ages so we went home as it wasnt fair on Shrimp and he was getting very fidgety but I think we came about 7th so am pleased!
He really feels ready to move up to Novice which is good considering we are at Somerford
but im alot more confident now so it should be really good.
Saw Cullohill in the showjumping ring next to mine but didnt get chance to speak as we were both pretty focused on what we were doing. Also saw them on the XC and Bud is gorgeous!! She did well but i'll let her fill you in
Thanks for reading
