Has been an extremely long, stressful, hot and good day!

We didnt have a ridiculously early start but as we were chugging along the motorway the lorry started to die everytime it had to go up an incline however minute. It was still going just very slow and mum didnt trust it to get us there so we stop at the services, called dad to bring the trailer out. He got there very speedily and poor Shrimp was extremely confused as to why he was in a lorry park at the services rather than the lorry park at the event! Anway we got there but it only gave us about 20/25 minutes to warm up for the dressage which for us is not enough. Neither of us were in the best state of mind so it was more of a 'lets get this over and done with test' rather than a 'lets enjoy this test'.
We scored 36.7 which is our worst this season, probably not helped by the fact that I hate the test (PN 111) (would have been 35.5 had I not gone wrong

) which I thought was reasonable and the comments were very fair.

On to showjumping which has improved so much. Im able to ask him to lengthen and shorter without fighting and its so much easier and nicer. We went clear

and there wernt that many either

XC: Now, last time I was at this venue I broke my arm so my main aim was to get round with all my limbs intact. The course was good even if the ground was a little hard but at least I didnt have to jump 'the jump' at which I fell off at last year. Anyway, he jumped fab, didnt look at anything or hesitate and we came home clear inside the time! Yay, no broken bones!

We waited 2 1/2 hours for the prize giving but got fed up in the end as they were taking ages so we went home as it wasnt fair on Shrimp and he was getting very fidgety but I think we came about 7th so am pleased!

He really feels ready to move up to Novice which is good considering we are at Somerford

but im alot more confident now so it should be really good.

Saw Cullohill in the showjumping ring next to mine but didnt get chance to speak as we were both pretty focused on what we were doing. Also saw them on the XC and Bud is gorgeous!! She did well but i'll let her fill you in

Thanks for reading

well done brilliant result and I guess the dressage would have been even better with no rush!
Good luck at novice!
My friend said she saw you the other day at your last event (kelsal I think lol)

Well done Flic. I did chuckle when you commented that you finished with all limbs intact! Good Luck for Somerford and you will down fine.

Well done you, and little shrimpy too.
LOL i can imagine his face unloading at the services lol WHATS GOING ON LOL

Super run before your move up.

Vxx

Hattikins - I definately am! Doing our first one at Llanymynech so we have Somerford Novice then Arley PNRF so that should set us up really well. I really want to get to Weston Park for the champs in October so im going to have to work really hard!

Is your friend Evie? You said she came second in my section? Ive heard her name before but I cant think were

probably at some other events last year

Well done - quite brave of you going back to same place- I think a ot of people would avoid somewhere with such memories attached! Re the lorry, mine did that for ages, but I was too much of a cheapskate to take it to garage. Finally gave in when it took me 6 hrs to get my mare back from stud when it should have taken 3 and a half. It was the oil filter, nothing could get through it! Cheap and easy to replace, hopefully it's that.

Well done Flic.
I don't think anyone would have done great in the Dressage after that start to the event.

But you did well to pull the rest of it together.
A big "Well done" for keeping all your limbs intact. (That made me laugh)!

Thanks! When I broke my arm I was doing the Novice so I think because it was a different course I was ok about it. I doubt i'll do the novice there again for a while....
I think Dad's going to get it checked out but I shall mention the oil filter so thanks for that!

Well done! Our day was mixed. 38 dressage (would have been 37 if R hadn't gone wrong). The little b****r stopped at the first fence SJ (which he never does) but then went on to jump the best round I've seen him do but unfortunately had an extra 9 time faults for having to re-present! Then went and did a fab clear xc. If he'd finished on dressage score he would have been well placed! Anyways, Somerford here we come!

I saw them going xc and they were flying! How unfortunate about the SJ but I guess its just one of those things. What day are you at Somerford?

He was in the bottom arena for SJ and the first was jumping towards all the tents and stuff - I just think he got spooked with it all. R does admit to not being positive enough. He did fly xc - 4.41 their time was, over a 5.06 optimum!!! R said he felt amazing xc. I think he'll do Somerford on the Saturday as we've said we'd dressage steward on the Sunday. He's doing PN though - still not sure about him going novice at Sansaw yet. We'll see - might just aim for Henbury in August instead and do Draycott, Skipton, Tetton and Skipton again beforehand.

It was very spooky so understandable. That must have been one of the fastest times, mine was 4.54 or something like that and I thought I went fast!! I competing on the sunday so will probably see you there. You'll just have to do what you think he is ready to do, hes easily got the potential and theres no rush is there?
