A friend and I volunteered to do this, this year having never done it before was wondering if anyone on here has?? Really just wanted to know what to expect?? There is 4 of us on the point so do we all have to be on the point all day or can you share the time and maybe have a wander around?? :)

Actual running of the crossing will be down to what the Steward considers appropriate on the day - you might get some time off but I wouldn't bank on it.

You need to have a nice smile and your thick skin on:)

Depending where abouts you are you will see a few of the eventers, may be close enough to the fences. I would think you are likely to get a break but don't bank on it I'm afraid.

I worked one year there driving the golf buggies giving riders/grooms etc lifts about as it was a scorcher. That was great fun but I only did it as my friend lived on the estate. One thing I will say to you TAKE YOUR SUNCREAM! It's going to be a hot one this year! :D

Take a chair and a decent picnic (I am sure you will get fed but you can never have enough food - and maybe a sneaky bit of wine! :D )

Yes, I was going to say take chairs, perhaps even a sun umbrella if this weather continues.

I don't suppose you will know where you will be yet, we are headed off there to camp for the whole event, so would say hello!

NOT competing! I would need brown trousers! lol I tend to walk the course, watching a horse at each jump, then go and settle at the water with a picnic :D

My friend is on their email list and an email was sent round asking, we offered and next thing all details get sent through!! If you email them and express an interest i'm sure they'll contact you for next year? :-)

They were asking on their Facebook page earlier in the year for crossing stewards, might be worth following that if you're interested..

Will look out for you (assuming they are actually numbered!) Really looking forward to camping there now, especially with this weather. Thank god the campsite should stay mud free this year and we will get to use the BBQ!
