Yes pretty much continuous rain. XC held up reasonably well although many pulled up or retired. Saw pippa funnell take a horrible fall at the corner in the last pic :-( fortunately both she and the horse were ok.
I had to buy a new waterproof coat as the rain soaked me completely thru! And same for the poor dogs. Fancy buying dogs coats in June! But also got a nice Lemieux saddlecloth and a acavallo gel pad for Dee :)
oh and a schooling whip, a block of cheese and a jar of lemon curd lol!!!

Not sure of the riders tbh just took pics when managed to get close enough to the fences to get decent shots! The BSJA classes were called off this afternoon to preserve the ground for the BE sj tomorrow. Hope it's not too slippy. Cars were getting towed off after we left apparently :-o

I had a great day fence judging today - we were up at the coffin. The absolute highlight of my day today was giving Zara a lift back to the stables after she fell off. She is absolutely fab and very down to earth and chatted away in the car with me, a complete stranger.

Ground was good really, the pulled 4 fences out and the U25s had the worst of the rain, but then the sun shone for the last hour.

Had a brilliant day.

Any pics of fence 3. There were a number of falls there (including a good friend) and then it was taken out. Just wondering what caused her very brave and honest XC machine to fall.

It was a fairly straightforward table, but I think it was on quite a difficult camber and the ground was bad. Hope your friend is OK.

Typically it's now blue sky here in Durham! That coffin looked pretty scary! But what a fab experience. Have to say despite the rain had a great day. Tho did feel sorry for the car park attendants and officials working in those conditions!
And yes good excuse for nice new pikeur coat. But was essential honest lol ;-p

They were still jumping that when we walked the course. Didn't realise it'd caused so many problems. Hope your friend is ok

I think it was certainly a 3.5* course! which along with the ground made it pretty tough. Anyone who finished must be pleased as punch. Hope none of the fallers are too sore. That coffin is always a bit if a dodgy one!

I have sore shoulders from carrying mini sf in a sling all day (too horrid for pushchair) and holding a big brolly! Got some lovely baby clothes from lazy jacks, can't justify spending on me really due to horse being on the mend and not wanting to curse it. Need a new dog collar tmrw :)

Friend is ok although her horse is a little bemused. She said it was so slippery on landing the horses just slipped and fell, even after a perfectly ok jump. She has done a 4* so this is well within her experience.

It's on a slight downwards slope which might not be that clear from the pic which might make it worse if the landing side was slippery.

I've never been so pleased that I had waterproof trousers on as yesterday. Came home and have so much stuff to dry out. I did enjoy it but its so much better in sun. Felt sorry for the people working outside all day.

Hi CC, we didn't see ZP's fall but we were down the bottom of the hill as her horse (loose) came down the course at a flat out gallop, galloped round the corner towards the water jump, saw the trakehner and took it on - although he jumped it the wrong way (ie backwards). Blimey, he didn't really have to jump it but saw it and obviously thought "what the hell"!!

Apart from that, we got so wet but were glad that we didn't leave mid-afternoon when we were totally soaked - in the end we watched a few more competitors and the weather started clearing so we headed up to the coffin jump and had a lovely time watching the horses through there - and dried out. By the time we got back to the car it was sitting on the only bit of green in the car park and was surrounded by a sea of mud!

We were there too Northern Hare, we must have been right next to you when he jumped the fence backwards!

We've just got back from camping there since Tuesday. The ground there is really superb. I walked the dogs through the village while they were setting up on weds, and it was a mud bath with lorries stuck everywhere, by 10am the next day it was nearly dry. Same for the Sunday after the rain, it dried out really quickly. Despite the rain, hubby and I look like we've been to the Caribbean from the tans we got watching the dressage days and SJ. We also managed to get our caravan sited 60m away from a xc jump this year and looking across to the stables and lorry park. I love Bramham, it's the best one for us.

Ps, Ian Stark said in the brochure that he thought people set off way too quickly last year and that's why they fell at the first two or three fences.

I think the hill away from the start has more gradient than it looks like too honey08 so it's a bit deceptive.

It's definitely down hill. That's not my opinion particularly, but seemed to be Ian Stark's, was just passing on his comments..
