I rarely buy horse riding gear these days. However, I just received an email from my local feed store announcing the latest clothing lines they had in stock.

They had a top which just had the name of the brand repeated all over it in large letters. I avoid clothing with massive branding signs all over it and try to find the most subtle going, although I would prefer none at all.

I had thought this had got a bit better as riding tights went through a phase of this sort of thing, but this was a new level.

I point blank refuse to pay £100s of pounds for an item of clothing that is going to be covered in excrement and hair in seconds. I have an ariat coat I got on sale and I do live in it but it’s absolutely disgusting. My polos are all cheap ones and I don’t even bother with jods anymore I just wear jeggings lol but when I did it was the cheap ones off eBay.

I really, really object to paying good money in order to be a walking advertising hording! It should be the other way round - they pay me :)

I’ve a mix of branded and unbranded. No Lemieux tops as I don’t like the look but I quite like the sleeve branding on an Ariat top and also a Dublin top I bought. Not enough to pay full price just for the brand but it’s a nice enough look.
