Went over on my ankle at the yard last night, my phone was in my car.
I had to crawl (yes..on my hands and knees) to the car, screaming in agony.
I decided to drive home, hyperventilating, screaming and crying, because I thought if I could get some ice on it and take some paracetamol I would be okay! I wasn't sure what to do first, to pass out from the pain or be sick, decisions decisions!
After an hour of screaming at home, dad took me to A&E, and I have torn my posterior talofibular ligament in half, and that apparently means it is okay to scream like a big baby because it is more painful than breaking the ankle? Round of applause for bournemouth A&E, they were brilliant, for once, seen within 40mins and out within 2 hours!
Lessons learnt...
1) always take my phone
2) ring 999 because I am entitled too, don't be brave/stupid
3) If you are injured car insurance is invalid.
4) mum's Oramorph is AMAZING at calming the pain but has masked it too.
It is amazing what you can do when adrenalin kicks in! I drove the 4 miles home, sick outside the house then iced it. Mum fed me a teaspoon of oramorph and I didn't even bat an eye lid. I was shaking form the pain and could not stop screaming. I actually thought it was going to fall off!!
The paramedic and doctor said I am a very brave idiot...I'll take that as a compliment
After some sympathy, cookies and similar bravery/stupidity stories please! I am grumpy after little sleep and bored at work!
