Bravecto annual injection

Hi…can anyone give me an approximate cost for an annual Bravecto injection for a 30kg dog please? I don’t normally treat on a routine basis unless I see a problem but I have one dog that seems to get skin lesions for want of a better word that Bravecto inhibits. (Skin scrapes and biopsy done a few years ago but no clues resulting. Likewise no clues resulting from diet changes.). Local vets are not being helpful- just saying that it’s extortionate. Would like to do my own comparison with a yearly injection versus a year’s supply of tablets plus the obligatory (usually unnecessary) vet consult.

We were told the price of yearly Bravecto injection would work out pretty much the same as 4 rounds of the chewables! So more than likely in the £200 range.

We have chosen to stick with the quarterly meds though.

it'll very much depend on vet practice so you would need to ring around and check unfortunately. It doesn't appear to be very popular in the uk but it is a very new addition to the market.
For ours its cheaper to use the injections v the oral chews every 3 months if your less then 15 kg, but more expensive for the larger breed dogs as its billed out per ml but I am not based in the uk.
If you aren't a client of the practice you would be adding a consult cost as well,as they cannot give a prescription drug without exam to a non client, so also take that into account.

I was quoted £185 inc vat for my 5.5kg monster when I was in there last week.
We are currently on their healthy pet plan, so no consultation to pay. This injection isnt included (currently) in this plan, its cheaper to stay quarterly chews.

We are not stocking it at our practice due to minimum orders and relatively short (3 month) shelf life after reconstituting the powder. Doses are tiny, and it's not thought enough clients would take it up to prevent a lot of wastage. Looking at the link below, the dose for a 10kg dog for example is 1ml. Given that you have to make up 15ml each time you broach a vial, that's a lot of wastage if nobody else wants it, hence lack of take up in the UK.

Its 140kg of dog per vial (you don't use all the diluent) - I just try to bunch client appointments who will use it. I went through 3 bottles the week it was released here!
