My partner and I decided we must get out on our motorcycles sometime this year! I haven't ridden my Kawazaki GPZ 500s for almost 2 years! I have never been a confident rider and even though I passed my test in 2005 I have only ridden my bike a handful of times.
Well I was so scared I would fall off and get squished by oncoming traffic that I felt physically sick! Bike wouldn't start for ages and couldn't get my fat arse in my leathers so had to borrow the OH's!!! So almost didn't go! But decided I wasn't going to be a chicken sh*t all my life and got on with it! After a wobbly start and a top speed of 25mph I started to enjoy myself lol!

Here's a pic of me in 2005 when I could get into my own leathers!!! I was very colourful today in my partners yellow and black leather trousers!!!

Other biker friends can't understand how I can ride my carthorse who has a "mind of her own" with ease and be so worried about a motorbike that I am in full control of! I guess I find horses easier and also don't have to worry about hitting a tree at high speed!!!! lol

Horses have a sense of self preservation so as long as you can stay on top you are likely to be fine- for example if you put a horse at a brick wall, it would stop/jump/go round it... if you put a bike at a brick wall you would wake up in hospital

Well done on getting out today though, I bet it was good fun really

I sold my Honda 750 a few months ago. Had it as did a lot of commuting to London and back - passed my test at the start of October and bought it new mid-October. Did over 13,000 miles in a year. Don't miss it at all and would much rather get on m'Dizzy one now, feel far safer lol

Well done Shellby ! Pleased you got out there and didn't scare yourself silly once you'd got going.

I'm a newbie to bikes so empathise with you - but I've just done the Bike Safe / Safe Rider course run by the local police force and highly recommend it. Yesterday had a 5 hour ride around the Norfolk coast line (with 2 other novice riders) in the company of a police bike officer and it was bloody brilliant - have learnt so much and my confidence has really improved.

AlexTheArab, that sound really fun! I'm sure they do something around here, but it's just getting the time to do it!
Dubsie - I was affraid mine would appear on Antiques Roadshow before I got it out again lol

Thanks everyone for your replies
