We all i can say is that i have never seen so much mud in my life
smile.gif
. After arriving in the pouring rain on the sat, i wasn't looking forward to the weather on the sun. It did however brighten up and was a very nice day.

I had qualified as an individual in novice 20 and the riding test.

First was the Novice 20, where Amber went well, she didn't like the very muddy arena and hence there was no medium trot, we made a few other minor mistakes which was a shame but overall i felt it went okay but could of been better.

Lucky i was able to go early for the riding test and so didn't need to hang around for ages. Amber was brilliant, she did everything she was told. I did feel it could of been better but we very rarely do "perfect" tests with no mistakes.

After putting her away, we went to see the scores.

My Novice was up... i got 69.2%

which put me equal 2nd at half way .. very pleased

Lorry park was as well controlled as it could have been under the circumstances with vehicles coming in being held on the showground whilst others were towed out. Once those coming in were able to be moved forward the whole operation would have been a darn sight quicker if people could have just accepted that they were not going to be able to park with their team mates already on site instead of arguing with stewards & then still trying to make tractor drivers tow them right across to the higher parts of the lorry park which was totally contrary to the instructions that the tractor drivers had been given. I have to say most competitors realised that everyone was doing their best, & were highly appreciative of all the efforts being made on their behalf. However there was a tiny, but still noticable minority proportion who seemed to think that the mud & rain had been especially organised by BRC just to cause them the maximum amount of inconvenience !!
BRC had no other option than to use the same routes for vehicles coming in & out as the police had already insisted that the main gate was the only one to be used coming in, & once it became obvious that vehicles leaving would be taking a great deal of mud with them they then also insisted that vehicles left across the showground as well, so that the bulk of the mud was left on the roads within the showground & not taken out on to the main road.
Circumstances in the lorry park were very difficult though, & huge congratulations to all those who competed & who remained in good spirits throughout. Glastonbury should be a doddle now for anyone who was camping over !!

hi Z

got to rely to this - Can i ask where you there about 7ish at night ??. Cos i was and i'm still in shock with what we saw

We sat there waiting and watching to be towed off whilst folks where driving at FULL speed over that mud, it was COMPLETELY DANGEROUS any people, tents or horses in way would have been FLATTEN

, they were slpping and sliding all over shop. And i was so glad in a way we were going home POOR JUNOIRS!!! we were sat there in shock at sight!!!! sorry it was very very dangerous. At one point i did have to get out of our truck and help - it did think i should get a job with united nations as folks were getting so furstation, but EVERYONE was in same boat, but again it was the speed some folks where trying to drive on mud that was issue (pc dads!!!)

This takes nothing away from competetion and i was totally amazed by how the showground held, as it did look muddy but underneath if was good going.

Yes I was there at that time, & for some while before & after !! I was in the stable managers landrover helping co-ordinate the exodous, before joining the flu vac team to facilitate getting people on to the ground as swiftly as possible once the tide of those leaving had been stemmed as far as possible. However not even Adrian is omnipotent & I dare say that what you're describing was taking place, well out of the sight of those of us who could have put a stop to it. Dare I also say that I think your assessment of those who were driving so dangerously is correct !! My best for the whole weekend was having to give one lady who was refusing to move the choice of either joining the queue or returning to the main road & turning right or left as best suited her to go home. Then there was the man who swore at me for about 5mins solid.........because of course he was the only one being held up.....
Well done & thanks for trying to calm people down. As I say it was only a very small minority who were rude &/or unpleasant. The army cadets were fab - & amazingly have all volunteered for the duty again next year !!! There's also been loads of praise for the tractor drivers - how helpful they were & how they understood that people with horses on board were somewhat wary of being towed.

That news travelled very quickly on the Saturday night !! If I'm right your hubby gave the tractor driver a tenner & yes the driver who got tipped was in a very sad minority. The drivers were all professionals (+ one fully insured club volunteer from nearby) who were being paid to do a job, but when they were engaged no-one could have forseen quite how arduous the job was going to be. They were 100% professional, polite, & took time to ressure those drivers concerned about the horses on board that all would be well.
