As title really. I went with a friend to collect a horse in the summer and her truck broke down, the AA came out but wouldn't help as they don't transport livestock! It was a bl**dy nightmare ! we had to call a friend and had to wait 4 hours for them to come and get the horse, poor boy, he was ok and recovered really well for the ordeal thank god!
So now i am mobile with my truck, trailer and new horse i want to make sure i have breakdown cover. Horse and trailer are insured with NFU do they do breakdown too or do i need to contact someone else?
Sorry for waffling on...
Hope you can help

im with ohto organisation of horsebox and trailer owners.luckily never needed but they were highly recomended and reasonable also cheaper if car is insured with the aa.i agree my biggest worry too.

Equine Rescue Services all the way!

Certainly worth the premium-will never leave you stranded

They have their OWN dedicated Control Room which is fabulous-they look after you from start to finish

I have an all in one package with NFU, Daihatsu Fourtrak and IW510 with full breakdown cover including getting horses home etc, fully comp insurance on vehicle and trailer all for £400 a year. I haven't had to use the breakdown service luckily, but a friend has the same cover and had to call them out and found them to be brilliant.

I have NFU and they have always been good, come and rescued us 3 times in the last couple of years. Including picking up box and me and horse from Edinburgh, 70 miles away and ferrying us all home from the vets.

I have my car and trailer insured with NFU and have breakdown cover for both too. I wanted to be sure that if I broke down with the trailer on and a horse on board, that they would rescue the whole package, not just the car.

Haven't had to use the cover yet - touch wood!

RAC do trailer and livestock recovery for £47 per year. Its called Horse Assist and if you look on their website details shoud be on there. My friend has breakdown cover on her wagon with South Essex Ins, think thats what they are called. They were good when we had a tyre blow out.
