Some of you may have read my recent breakdown about going ahead with the a vetting and selling my much loved mare (brought to do dressage but excelling at jumping and rather untalented in the dressage ring!).

Well the last week has been very odd as she has been sold and is doing very well with her new family and I have been horseless, clearing debts with her sale money and coming to terms with having to give up for a while due to lack of funds for a new horsie.

Anyway long story short I have been offered the most amazing elementary level dressage horse on permanent loan! :D (cannot believe my luck! talk about right place, right time!)

Anyway just looking for a bit of advice as he is very sensitive about his ears and poll (he has always been like this no medical issues) and needs the bridle taking apart to put it on. He currently has a Stubben 3000 split head bridle but I was wondering if anyone has any recommendations for dealing with something that does not like being bridled and if another bridle (maybe with a comfort headpiece) might be more comfortable for him?

If you don't want to have to buy a whole new bridle this comfort poll pad was good for mine (hopefully the link above if I have attached it right! If not I will try again :p) One I backed before had to have the bridle taken apart to get it on initially but I never made a big deal of it and just kept taking it apart, putting treats on the floor so he put his head down so the top half of the bridle could just be placed on (rather than lifting it up to eyes/head level which was spooky for him) until a few months later I tried again and he was absolutely fine from then on as by then he was more relaxed/trusting with everything.

Good luck and have fun with him :D
