Does anybody have any trainer recommendations? I have a 4 year old KWPN gelding and a 3 year old Oldenburg gelding that I would like to send away to be backed & produced. The 4 year old has already been sent away twice to high profile dressage trainers and I have been totally ripped off both times... These were people that I admired and looked up to from what I would see on media platforms and they just completed disappointed me...

I have now wasted thousands of pounds with people that are happy to take the cash and a not do the work, mistreat the horse and cut all communication with me whilst the horse is in their care.. I always wanted to be a dressage rider and I thought with the right coach and guidance I could achieve my goals but I feel at a total loss now.

I don’t have an arena at home as it is under construction, so unable to get the horses started myself. I could also really do with someone to guide me and give me confidence.

I am based in Hampshire, so ideally looking for someone based locally but would travel further for the right person. Sorry for the rant!!

How long before your arena is ready? I am just wondering whether after 2 bad experiences you may be better having someone come to you to do it instead of trying to send away again

Vickijay on here would be my go-to if I had a dressage baby to back/produce. She's very calm and patient, and produces well educated youngsters, who have seen all sorts, and have a good idea of what life is going to hold for them. I'll tell her to check in on this post

Just out of curiosity what went wrong with the first two people you used? To me if you're paying for them to be backed then surely they would 'back' them. Unless they weren't ready. They should of at least done plenty of ground work/long reining? I have ended up backing my youngster myself and have a dressage rider to help us get going. I do think you start with someone who specialises in youngsters and then move on to your trainer? Rather than a dressage rider to do it all.
