Hey there, I am thinking of breaking my mare in to drive and was wondering if anyone could suggest the best place to by a harness from? and any hints and tips on driving heavy horses
If you haven't done it before it might be a good idea to do the basics with an expert making it more fun and less stressful.some of the shire and Clyde breeders will have both of you to stay and teach you both or the horse by itself, I think
For example Robert Sampson definitely does. http://sampsonpercherons.co.uk/index_files/Page616.htm
I agree with AengusOg. I buy the cheap ebay stuff for all the lessons and training. I sometimes have to buy more then one. Then mix and match to make a good fit. It's still a lot cheaper than buying an expensive setup. You can then buy a decent set if and when you carry on with driving. If not put it all back on ebay.
