As title says, how much would i be looking at to get my horse broken. Shes a 5 year old trakhner x tb. Left to mature, so not as well handled as she could be. would have to start from very basics all the way through to schooling?

Any ideas?

Thanks

In the past iv been charged weekly from £100-£150 a week for my youngsters to be backed so it would totally depend on how long she would need to be there.
Mine have gone after being long reined/lunged and lightly backed and come back after 4 -6 weeks able to school in walk, trot, canter pop a small jump etc...
If shes very raw you could be looking at 8 plus weeks.

i will be payin £200 per week but thats someone i know and trust and think i will be getting a well produced horse back and the length of time depends totally on the individual horse

I've just paid £140 per week to have mine professionally backed, she was there for 7 weeks as was a bit difficult so needed a weeks break halfway through for which I only paid for grass keep at £35 a week. I think around £100-£150 a week is about average & it really depends how much you want done as to how long it takes. The minimum is normally about 4 weeks, with 6 weeks being normal but up to 8 weeks if you want specific schooling or the horse is finding it all a bit much. Not a cheap business!

I've just had my arabian mare professionally broken and she took 10 weeks at £120 a week, including full (stabled with turnout) livery. She took a bit longer, just because she is 8 and hadn't been handled until this year, so it was all taken slowly.

However, she should have been back now, but I've gone and broken my leg badly, so she is still down there to continue her education, until I can ride again, probably xmas time, so hopefully I will have a perfectly schooled horse by then!

Last summer, I had my rescued gipsy cob mare backed and the cost was £80 a week to include full livery. I supplied the hard feed but that was because the horse had specific dietary needs. I was very, very pleased with the outcome.
