Hi all
Im really stuck, I hope you can help!  I own a 14.2 Lipizzaner 4 yr old gelding.
He has saddle and bridle on, walking, trotting on the lunge and the beginning stages of long reining. I have put in endless hours of ground work and everything seems to be going well.
I decided to sit on him the other day and was expecting him to run off, buck, the usual... but he didnt, dont get me wrong I not complaining but I seem to be experiencing the opposite problem.... I cant get mine to move!
He plants his feet and refuses to move! I have had his back and teeth checked and he passed with flying colours, I have had to get a helper lead me around the field with my feet out of the stirrups and gently tapping his sides to get him used to leg contact and giving him constant reassurance. But once she let go he stops dead, I have never experienced anything like it.
Now Im in unknown territory, I have broken youngsters in before so Im not a complete novice but I cant always guarantee there will be people to help me as Im on a private yard.
So the question is, do I let the professionals help me, or do I persevere myself with an alternative technique???
Can anyone recommend anyones breaking services in the Essex area?
Any help would greatly be appreciated.
Many thanks
Kate
