Hi guys I'm new to this page and new to being a horsey mummy. Purchased my first horse in dec.she was in broken in since Iv had her she's accepted a rider troted under the saddle had tack and bits in. I'm struggling with her ground manors/work. Lunging, steering (directions) and just general ground work in having trouble with. She's not spiteful doesn't kick or bite never bucks or rears. Just after some advice and help all welcome thanks in advance xx

You ideally need someone with experience of backing and training young horses to come and help train you and the horse in person. Look for an instructor/trainer in your area that have that as their area of expertise and book some sessions with them.

There is so much to do with a young just started horse that really requires experienced advice from someone who is with you and can be hands on, I would suggest you find a good professional trainer near to you and get them involved before things go too far.

All the groundwork, manners, lunging, long reining etc should have been properly established before backing, she needs to understand what is required of her and as she is your first horse I think it unlikely you have the experience needed to do this alone which is why you are having issues, there is nothing to be lost and everything to be gained by getting proper help now which just cannot be done through a forum, although we can help with some issues this is just too complex to try and deal with on here without knowing far more about you, what may be suggested for one situation may be totally wrong for someone with less experience.
