I need them to be rideable in by Saturday morning. What do I do? I bought them ages ago but was just too lazy to do anything with them but they're still at the cut off the circulation to the lower leg stage and I need to wear them to jump a novice horse.

They are way to stiff to keep my heel down in so I'm going to fall off unless I can think of something.

I walked to the shops in them today and it gave me cramp and I ended up walking like John Wayne's gay brother. Help!!

i wore mine round the house for abit-then rode in them once before a show and they felt fine-have you rode in them yet? Just wear them as much as poss lol. good luck at your show :D

Warm them so the leather soften then put them on with a thick pair of socks :)

I think my feet would drop off I tried to put thick socks under them! I may have underestimated how fat my legs or. Else I've really piled it on since I bought them! When you get fatter do your legs get fatter with you?

I was always told to put the boots on and then soak your feet in a bucket of warm water. Once the boots are soaked take your feet out of the bucket and let them dry on your feet.

Disclaimer - I've never tried this technique though, I always just walk mine in over a few weeks.

I had to do this with my mountain horse long boots - I feel your pain! Here are my suggestions:
Oil them/leather feed/ any kind of grease or cream you like and really work in around the ankles and top of foot. I also, while not wearing them, gently pushed the tops down into themselves to make the ankles crease more - hard to explain but really works!
I wore them as much as possible - but make sure you protect your backs of knees with socks/plasters as rubbing an already sore spot turns into a massive blister which then bursts etc etc cue lots of pain! Someone also suggested taking a long pair of socks and cutting the foot/ankle section off, and then pulling the tube up so it just goes around your knee, protecting the vulnerable part but not squishing your toes!
Mine had zips at the back so I wore them to walk aroun in/ran down the road in them / walked up and down stairs with the zip partly undone to start to soften the rest of them. I actually rode 2 dressage tests with the zip partly undone by 1" and the puller tucked in, but the velcro top bit closed loosely so it wasn't visible that they weren't done up - but my leg could flex and it didn't hurt!!
The other thing I did was got a pair of scissors and cut, very delicately, any proud parts around the stitching at the top of the zip/velcro part and there were a couple of bits that were digging in enough to rub.
Good luck I'm sure you'll get there with them!!

i used that red goo stuff in the yellow tin - i rubbed it in on both the outside of the boot and also the inside at the ankle area i also sat watching telly bending the boot at the ankle to get them to drop, i must have one leg longer than the other cause 1 boot is fine the other one still nips the back of my knee - also heal risers are good for lifting your foot up a bit till they drop

I am, as we speak, on the sofa, in my pyjamas, with my boots on bending my ankles. OH thinks I have gone mad. He is learning the joys of the horsey gf. :)
