im trying to break in my pony who has just turned 3 but last week i fell off really badly and am worried to get back on because she keeps backing up and am worried shes going to do the same thing again from when i fell off
is there any advice on breaking in/backing up etc
thanks for the help in advance

The best advice is to get someone experienced to work with you or do it for you, it is the most important time in the ponys life so far and not worth either spoiling the pony or hurting yourself.

As above, you need someone experienced.
What have you done with her till now?
Maybe she hasn't been prepared right.
My daughter and i have just backed 2 3 year olds and we've had no problems, but then they were both very well handled and well prepared ie. Months of walking out in hand in my filly's case.

I thought you'd asked in previous posts for recommendations as to where to send him for breaking & then one saying he's done & you need a riding permit? But now your doing it yourself? I think you really need to go back to the original plan of sending the pony away for breaking, get some professional help asap before you both end up wrecked.

i've just been like lunging, getting her to go to different transitions, sitting on her back and that but i think i'll just get someone to do it for me because i dont want her to get into bad habits as she's still young, thanks for the advice :)

yeah i was asking if anyone knew anyone but as i didnt want to get her sent away and i couldn't find anyone i had been trying myself

Long reining would help, it's not hard and once your pony knows how you can long rein anywhere you plan to later ride. From what littlelegs has said and my presumption that you're young, i think you need help :)
Mydaughter is 10 and backed both of ours but she had me on the ground to assist every step of the way, she worked under my instruction.
So you can still do it, but get help and the right help, ano instructor to guide you or ano older experienced friend.

It doesn't sound as though you are able to give her confidence in this process, so I would agree with finding someone not too far away who is able to start her for you and give you some lessons before you get her back again.
Ponies (and horses of course!( need to learn and get confident with one thing at a time. The fall would have put you both back quite a few steps. So if you want to continue this process yourself you will need to go back to the beginning and repeat everything step by step. Good luck.

I worked with a clicker with my youngster, teaching him to stand nicely when I was mounting. He'd been fine at first, then learned that if he kept fidgeting, I couldn't get on so I took it back a few steps and clicker trained him to stand still. It worked a treat :D

Get some professional help or even better, send the pony to a professional breaker.

A long dead professional breaker told me 3 pearls of wisdom ----

Do what you like to a young horse with the exception of.

1. feed it by hand
2. let it be rude on the halter
3. fall off it.
