I am caring for a pony who has recently broken out in sores- I've known him for around 3 years and I beileve it had happened before but to a much lesser extent.
The horses have just been wormed with pancur to cover the majority of worms as they missed their last one, and the problem seemed to get worse after this (could be unrelated).
The affected areas are in small patches, on the point of hip, a few on the rump, the tail is very scabby, the mane line is scabby- I have just found a new bunch of scabs on the neck line. There have been ones around the mouth but they healed. The scabs break out, pus a little then heal up very quickly.
Any ideas what it could be? I don't have any pictures at the moment but can take some, they just look like round scabby areas and every day more appear as the others start to heal. None of the others have it, although he does spend time 'talking' to the horses next door who receive no worming or vaccinations :/ I haven't had chance to get a close look but they seem scab-free. He has been bathed in a veterinary antimicrobial shampoo to treat fungus and bacteria infections etc.
