Hi! Sorry i know this has been done before but i cant find it, if someone could help me or point me in the right direction that would be great!

Anyway, which is best elasticated or non elasticated breastgirths? With breastplates i have always gone for elasticated because i thought that it would give the horse more freedom. I was wondering if this is the case with breastgirths as they are positioned differently so not as restrictive i guess. I have heard lots of people say that elastic defeats the whole object of having one, but if you look at all the racehorses and also eventers like Will F-P they have elastic. Just wanted your opinions before i go out and buy but so far i am tempted to go elastic.

Thanks!

Elastic (v leather)

Pros:
Moves with the horse and does not restrict

Cons:
Elastic invariably rubs more than leather
Difficult to clean

Summary
Buy one if you need your breastgirth needs to be uber tight to stop the saddle moving back (although question why you need this).
If it does not need to be tight leather does less damage to the hair and is easier to maintain.

Another note: webbing breastgirths are a pain in the bottom, as they cannot be cleaned easily.

Thankyou very much! No it doesnt need to be uber tight i just want it there as a safeguard (my saddle has never moved, so far anyway) i just prefer them to breastplates and need a new one for her.

I actually found that the movement in the elastic of an elasticated breastgirth rubbed my horse, so I have switched back to a leather breatplate.

Know plenty of people who use the elastic ones without problems though
