This may sound like a completely dense question, but I'm looking into buying a new combined breastplate martingale for the ned and most of the ones I like seem to have a clip attachment for the girth - is it possible to remove the clip/have it removed and use them in the usual way? Thanks

i dont think so no sound like my one sort of, if its one that clips onto the girth rather than goes round it as you get some like that

Am confuddled... 'A clip attachment for the girth'?

Mine is a Jeffries five-point competition breastplate, the only thing that could clip off is the martingale attachement; the piece that goes to the girth attaches at the top end to a ring, which the straps that lead to the saddle also attach to.

i know what you mean, instead of a loop for the girth to go through, it has a clip to clip to a ring on the outside of the girth...

whilst i know what you mean... i don't know if it's removable... soz...

(in my defence I'm still blaming the head cold lol).

Could you not get a friendly saddler to sew rings to your girths? Or, make a strap that goes round your girth and the breastplate can then attach to?

Totally understandable - it is a weird thing to describe! I could...but them I'd be getting into territory where I start thinking 'Oohh.. I could just buy a new girth or two' and we all know where that ends up

i have one with a clip from equiport and there is a metal loop on the breastplate you can clip the clip onto and then put your girth through like normal... does that make sense?
