I'll put this first. Vet has been called, appointment this afternoon.
I have a 5 year old appaloosax newforest mare. Shes 14.2 and usually alittle moody but perfectly normal. Last week i noticed while riding that she coughed for the first time ever, i took it as a one time thing, after 20 mins light work (walk, trot) she began to get out if breath and dropped her head to the floor, like a dog scenting the ground. So i got off and inspected her. Everything normal except she was acting like she'd had a hard days schooling. Gave her some water and feed alittle later and everything returned to normal. Yesterday while at the yard i noticed her nostils flaring while she breathed. No noise or discharge, just alot of flaring. I measured these at 27 breaths per min. Came back at 10pm so she was totally relaxed and counted again for the same result. Shes eating, pooing and everything fine. Any idea what this could be? Vet has been called.
Thanks!
