Hi I recently changed to using Bedrap bedding due to the cost of shavings being so high. Over the last few weeks one of my horses has got four hard lumps on her belly and back of hindquarters. My vet has cut one open as it was very inflamed but said whatever was in it had gone or been absorbed. The lumps are small and feel as if there is something sharp inside like a thorn. I am coming to the conclusion that it maybe the bedding doing this as some of the pieces are very sharp (it's chopped rape straw). My horse also has very thin skin being a thoroughbred. Has anyone else experienced anything similar with this type of bedding? So far this has cost a couple of hundred pounds in vet bills so am keen to reach a conclusion!

Would appreciate anyone's opinions, thanks......

My vet told me she's experianced several horses who have had issues rape straw bedding , I had one very allergic to bed max ( in fact all wood shavings ) she was fine on paper.
