Nothing upsets me more than trying to buy new breeches - I find it really depressing!! Used to wear Mark Todd Gisbournes but they changed the recipe so I switched to Georg Schumacher- bit hit and miss depending on model but you can’t get them anymore and I can’t remember what ones I liked anyway. Post baby, my figures changed a bit and I need new breeches. I’m 5’9, a 12-14 in normal clothes but every pair of breeches I’ve tried I look like fat stuffed in a sausage skin, and it’s actually really getting me down. I’m more of a triangle shape, with broad shoulders and boobs, normal waist and only slightly wider hips. Any suggestions? Also, what size as I’m getting really confused with the different sizing types, what comes up big/small etc. I prefer something that’s a bit decent and don’t mind spending a bit more for something flattering.

I cannot help re-fitting but I have just bought a pair of Horze breeches and love them. They seem to be lovely quality and fit. In fact I loved them so much I sent off for another pair in a different colour a few weeks later. I am in my late 50's and really like them to have proper waists, if you know what I mean. I am not pear shaped either, so probably like you, on the bottom half anyway.

Just bought some flexars - I bought the grey and loved them so much bought the black and blue.

Thick enough to be flattering, high wasted and nice grippy material (I find silicone too sticky). I am a sort of straight up and down shape!!

Totally sympathise. I hate buying new breeches because it's so difficult to find a decent everyday pair for a reasonable price. I have to risk buying on line because saddlerys seem to stock mostly breeches with blingy bits, sticky rubber on the bum and the fabric is that awful stretchy stuff that keeps slipping down and grips your calves like compression bandages.

I love the Mark Todd denim breeches. I’m wearing the same pair pre and post baby - comfortable and flattering ?

That's interesting. I used to really like those but haven't bought any for years because so many manufacturers bring out new improved products which are never an improvement for the customer. Quality and cut seem to change when an item is popular. Lol, I think I'm a bit jaded these days.

I know what you mean - I’ve got into the habit of buying two of something if I like it as guaranteed they’ll fiddle with the design! I live in my MT denims in the spring/summer and my Laura Garrelli fleece lined showerproof ones in the winter. In an ideal world both pairs would come up slightly higher on the waist but otherwise they are perfect and they don’t have any silicone/sticky seat/blingy bits!

Oh I do agree with you all! I’m not an old crusty and I like a zingy check or colour but not bright pink, bright blue, bling, silicon or fabric that displays to all what I’ve had for breakfast!!

The whole process is so depressing. I don’t think I’m Giselle but I’m not fat, I don’t have any major wobbly bits and I’m pretty toned for a mother of a 3 year old and a 10 month old. I tried on a load of breeches before CV hit and just ended up in tears (and I’m really not that type) as nothing fitted and I was having to pick the largest size to get them done up. Will take a peek at the suggestions on here and give them a whirl. At least I can sob and then eat biscuits in the comfort of my own home...
