Any idea what breed this pony is: she is 9 this year, is 13.1hh. She is always very cresty, has VERY wide shoulders, is bum high, gets VERY hairy in winter even all down her legs, is EXTREMELY kind and sweet and very hardy.
Thanks in advance in case I don't get back on for a while...I'm ironing tonight...

I'm afraid I haven't got any decent wintery ones so I can't show how hairy her legs get but its long hairs all the way down not just cobby type feathers.

A bit of New Forest in there perhaps? I had one that looked quite similar, I'll dig a photo out later to compare.
Enjoy your ironing. Btw, saw your shettie in the Yard thread in Gallery, he is such a lovely colour.

First thought Highland then New Forest. I used to have a New Forest and they have the same heads and eyes. Maybe a mixture of the two??

very likely a connemara, the owner of our yard breeds them and she looks alot like them and they match the description. unlikely new forest as their quite narrow shouldered for a native.

Mmm...I just don't know. Holly's legs do look very fine in that picture but I'd never really thought of them as that fine. Maybe its cos they're darker. Your pony seems to have a cobbier nose but again it could just be the paler colour. She gorgeous though and thanks for the comment on Tigger (shettie) although he's not quite such a nice colour now I can assure you!!

Connie x highland I would guess. Could be a mixture of lots of native types.

LOL...basically she could be anything..bless her

Must admit I do generally refer to her as a Highland/Connie type as I've had one person say definitely Highland and one definitely Connie (who have seen her in the flesh)!!

I was going to say Highland x Welsh Sect A, but then I had a look at the Connemara pony society website and I have to say I agree with Connemara, an quoite possibly a pure bred going by the societies description on their website

Have a look at this, and the pic of your daughter in the yellow jacket. It is like a double!! (if u peice the clips together).

Mine doesn't, but I know Highlands that have quite long hair all the way up their legs (but then mine doesn't have a particularly full mane either - or a beard)

Thanks, The Watcher. Mmmm...interesting! Thats the difficulty isn't it? Some you know the breeding of don't necessarily have all the characteristics of that breed so what hope have I got
