Breed suggestions

Great dane?

They dont shed much, get on with a gang of dogs, and will go on a walk all day long...providing there’s no bridges. Ours used to be terrified of bridges and had to carry him across!!

Or it's raining...none of ours have ever liked the rain and getting them out in it is akin to fighting an octopus. The BEST breed though!!!

Apologies for my tardiness in responding to this thread and thanks for the suggestions.

On the subject of shedding, I'm not looking to avoid all shedding simply the heavy shedding breeds. It may not work out that way of course, I suspect that when the decision is made it will be more a matter of heart than head.

Quoth, If you like Berners and Swissies there is a smaller mountain dog, the Entelbucher. I have no idea if I spelled that correctly. A woman in my agility class has Swissies and I can ask her more about them and their problems if you like.

Thanks for the offer, I'm only at the collecting ideas stage at the moment and wouldn't like to put you to the trouble.

Just to add, I grew up with an Airedale and he was the kindest soppiest nicest dog to everyone and everything he even got his picture in the news paper because my dad is a massive country music fan and was friends with the BBC Radio 2 DJ and had links to Nashville, our dog was named Boxcar Star of the Opry or Boxie for short, after Boxcar Willie the country singer and when he came to England he was told about our dog and asked to meet him, and they had their photo in the news paper ❤️
