Just need someone to explain about covering certificates..
Do they come with the semen (obviously when AI'ing). What do they look like, what do you need to do with them etc.

Sorry for sounding pretty dumb!

Covering certificates are usually sent when mares are scanned in foal. Keep hold of them and then next year you will be sent paperwork to say what is produced and how to register the foal. If you look on Sports Horse (GB) you will see how it works

My stallions are T.B so i can only help you with Weatherbys certificates.
We issue our covering certificates after oct 1st mainly because the T.B mares we cover are on oct 1st stud fee payment.
But we issue a covering certificate for all mares whether A.I'd or not , we have a box to tick on it to say if it was natural cover or not.
I cant vouch for other breed societies but would give the stud a call as many of the very big T.B studs dont send out the certificate unless you ask for it.
Dont know why we just send them out as long as customer has paid all there bills .
