How old should a stallion be before he's bred???? And why...??

I wouldn't like to see a colt covering before he is 3, and even then depends on the horse.
Too early and besides the possible problems with attitude and behaviour before he has learnt about proper work and discipline, I would worry about strain to the hocks and back.

I agree V. Though I do know of someone who was planning on getting semen collected off their yearling and then gelding him..........
